Chef John Reicherter was introduced to the culinary world at an early age when his mom owned a deli in Lewisburg, PA. It was then that he found a passion for scratch-made food and realized that you don’t need fancy ingredients to make a great-tasting meal. After gaining a hands-on culinary education by working in several restaurants throughout Manhattan and Queens, he moved to Pittsburgh in 2013, where he started as a fry cook at The Porch at Schenley. John has a strong dedication to using locally sourced ingredients and can’t wait to create new dishes using the fresh produce from our Porch side garden.

What Mike loves most about his almost 30 years in the hospitality industry is that every day is different. With an affinity for the “hit the ground running” atmosphere that is inherent to managing a restaurant, Mike has created an environment of fun and relaxation for guests, while also harboring a sense of teamwork and camaraderie among employees.  “It’s the people that really make The Porch such a special place.  I’ve gotten to know so many incredible people.”
